Short report as I am super busy with charters as the fishing is uneal!
Took my good friend Buddy Candee out for a rematch with Charlie. We lost a giant 2 days earlier but this time I brought the 50 class reels on custom rods. I figured this would take care of these guys.....WRONG.
Around noon I put the last bait we had on a ballon...the sherawaters and dogs were attacking our baits all day. This last bait was the smallest one we had so I didnt have much hope. Fish is in the water less than 15 minutes when the Penn 50 screams...FISH ON!
Buddy is in the harness and another good friend and experienced tuna fisherman is along and helping to coach.
We fight the fish a little over an hour. This is a devil fish as he constantly charged the boat on blistering runs trying to cut himself off. I dance the Lady around him and I think I finally see color down about 30 ft. I climb up on the gunwall for a better view and see a huge giant tuna circling...get the fu$king harpoon NOW!
I am putting the dart on the head with my back turned to the bow when I hear POW!...The fish made a hard dive for the bottom and with the short line the 50-100 class rod snapped in half like a matchstick even though the drag was only at Full Strike (28 lbs). This fish had been hooked before and he simply beat us as we brought a knife to his gunfight.

These fish are huge so starting Thursday I am bringing out the 130s (cannons in gun talk) and we will see what happens.
Finally, we had tuna jumping around us all day and in the running tides we limited out on cod as well. It dosent get any better than this.
