F/V Lady Diane
Getting Ready

11 Mar 2008

Had a great time at the MSBA show a couple Saturdays ago meeting so many great folks. I always enjoy these shows as I learn so much from talking with other fisherman and captains.

During the next week or so I will be respooling the cod gear with Jerry Brown line ( the best braid on the market in my opinon) and slicing on Momoi shock leaders. I have found this setup allows anglers to enjoy the sensitivity of braid, especially in deeper waters, and the mono provides a shock absorber of sorts when fighting larger fish. I have purchased a new set Shimano Tallus rods and Penn 113H reels this year for ground fishing and I think everyone is going to be very pleased with them.

The Lady Diane is next on the list and Sean (best Suzuki tech in the world) at Yarmouth Marine in Yarmouth, Maine, will begin prepping her for the season ahead. We hope to have her back on the water by the end of March and ready for the cod opener April 1st.

On the fishing scene, some commmercial fisherman I have spoken with said they have been doing extremely well on the cod, so lets hope they stick around until April.
It wont be long now!
