New Leaders on the Board
10 Jun 2010
I invited Doug Singleton to come down yesterday for a short afternoon trip to see if I could get him to hook up with a trophy size cod. Doug brought along his friend Don Turgeon who had never fished on the ocean before so that he could get idea what ocean fishing was like. To say the least Don was a quick learner.
We had an uneventful trip to the grounds, unlike this past Saturday, and after showing Don how to operate the gear the guys let the jigs fly and immediately started sticking steaker size cod. Within a couple hours we had our limit of 20 lb plus fish including 3 in the 30s. The two biggest weighed in at 32 lbs, being held by Doug on the right and 35lbs which Don is holding on the left.

Don had hoped to catch at least one fish bigger than 6 pounds (the largest fish he has ever caught) so his hopes were rewarded with a trophy cod.
Therefore, the current standings in the Full Strike Anglers are as follows:
First Place Don Turgeon VT Cod 35lbs
Second Place Doug Singleton VT Cod 32lbs
Third Place Ed Brammer CT Cod 25lbs
Congratulations to the current leaders as this is a good start for the season but there are much bigger fish to be taken. Last year's big cod (45lbs) was taken in August as the ground fishing is great throughout the year. I plan on returning to these grounds again this weekend so these standings have a good chance of changing by Monday morning. Stay tuned!!!
