Lots of Fish
1 Aug 2009

I didnt get pulled overboard by Charlie (yet) but had been super busy with charters and cutting lots of fish for my customers.

Only did one pure tuna trip early in July and that was a long boat ride for 2 huge stripers.  The good news is the last week the tuna are showing to the north where we fish and some real nice fish have been taken between 65" and 90".  The majority of the fish are being taken on live bait so I am learning how to fly my kite and will be ready for my upcoming tuna charters with a new weapon in my arsenal.

Ground fishing is absolutely the best I have seen in years.  We limit out on cod in shallow water and then go east to fish the haddock.  The last four trips have averaged over 150lbs of fillet for 2-3 anglers.  It just dosent get any better than this.  We did take our largest cod of the year 40lbs and a slammer pollack of 25lbs on the same trip.  Pictures are posted below.

Engine problems have kept me off the water for a couple days (lower unit seals needed replacing after a fishing line found the props) but fortunately the was a break in the charter schedule so no one has been disappointed.  Next week I have some openings as well so give me a call if you want to try for tuna or groundfish...they are all here and they are hungry.
