I'm Back as

I survived...
16 Jul 2009

...nearly 10 days of fishing in a row between private charters offshore, CapeAnnKids trips, family fishing and even a sight seeing cruise.

It would take way too long to give a detailed report on each day and to be honest the days have blurred together as I try to remember back but luckily my camera has plenty of photos to share.

Overall we had a couple very disappointing trips where the fish just wouldnt cooperate but we also had some trips where the crews slammed bull haddock to 8.5lbs,  pollack, and boat limits of market cod.  The last 2 trips limited out on market cod as a new wave of these fish have landed on top of the bank in 130 ft of water...just like spring cod fishing.  I hope they keep on coming the rest of the summer as this makes for easy fishing.

On the tuna scene someone erected a wall of bait just north of Cape Cod and the tuna refuse to leave the good eats in any quanity. One day last week over 30 fish where taken on the troll alone.  Up north the guys in the harbor are getting sporadic shots and have landed some fish mostly on live bait suspended from kites.  I have not used this technique but I am going to learn in this year as it sounds like the strikes are simply awesome.  If all goes well I have a full blown tuna charter booked for this coming Sunday and I plan on buring a lot of fuel and take the guys to the southern and try to put our first fish in the boat.

Heres some photos to show you what I have been up to the last 10 days

A typical market cod...Great Eatin Fish!

Pollack are startin to show...again a perfect eatin size fish of 13 lbs

These guys are too tired to hold the markets up after putting a boat limit in the box on my last charter!

Yes Virginia...8lb Haddock do love jigs

and so do 8.5lb haddock

Cape Ann Kids get it done

My 3yr old granddaughter, Avery,  tries out her special rod!

Finally, a good friend I have know for many years, Bud Candee and his wife Evelyn,  took a cruise through the Annisquam River and around Cape Ann on a perfect summer afternoon.  We even stopped and threw plastics in the rocks for schoolies along the way. In the background you can see one of the Twin Sisters Lighthouses on Thatchers Island .  Later in the week Bud crewed a lobster trip for me  and he brought home  5 nice lobsters to the Berkshire for his family and friends

If you are interested in this type of cruise, I would glad to set one up for you at a very  reasonable cost.

Hope you enjoyed the photos and I will try to get my reports posted in a more timely fashion as the schedule lightens up a bit the next 2 weeks.

 Tight lines,
