I had to reschedule both charters this past weekend due to the weather forecasts. I always want to give my guests the best possible chance to have a successful day and considering the distances they have to travel (and the fuel costs involved) I could not take a chance hoping the weatherman would be wrong. Thankfully, or should I say miraculously, he called it right on..both days would have been ugly to say the least as even the large head boats stayed in port . I know how disappointing it is not to go on a planned trip but when I started this business I promised myself that I would only take guests out on the days I felt they had the best possible chance at both enjoying themselves and catching a boat load of fish.
On a happier note, the storm is now headed east and it looks like the coming weekend's weather is finally going to cooperate. I have received some information that the cod are starting their inshore spawn and so on Thursday I , along with my trusty fishing partner COCO (110 lbs of Lab love), will hit the grounds to see if the "whales" have shown in respectable numbers. Reports also indicate that the Porbeagles on hot on the tails of the huge mackerel schools that have invaded the waters so the 50s will be on board this weekend in the hopes we can put some steaks on the grill by days end.
